If you’re interested in ramping up your recruiting efforts, you may want to take a page out of the book of some of the world’s top corporations, and incorporate one or more of these recruiting trends:
Focusing on Your Employer Brand
Building up a solid employer brand is quite possibly the biggest trend in recruiting right now. Companies are realizing that in order to attract and retain top talent, they have to create a brand that lures in these individuals. Research has shown that the majority of employees, particularly in the Millennial generation, are willing to accept a lower salary to work at a company with a robust and positive employer brand.
The Science of Assessment
Assessment within the world of corporate recruiting has become more advanced, finite and scientifically-based than ever before.

Corporations are branching out past the traditional personality assessment tools like the Myers-Brigg test, and are exploring and tapping into an increasingly pervasive industry dedicated to providing assessment tools and resources for use during the recruiting process.
Just a few of the big names include Evolv, PeopleAnswers and SkillSurvey.
Big and Robust Data Collection and Tracking
This is another recruiting trend that continues to grow and expand as more technology becomes available, but still a slim percentage of companies are actually taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the use of collecting and maintaining data.
Unfortunately for organizations, particularly smaller businesses, the business of data collection can seem intimidating, but with the number of platforms and systems now available, it’s easier than ever before.
Focusing on the Experience for Candidates
As part of the efforts to build a positive employment reputation and brand, the focus is on the entire recruitment and candidate process, from start-to-finish.
The candidate experience can often feel like what’s referred to as a “black hole,” where they never hear back from potential employers, and it’s important that in order to manage and maintain your employer brand, you’re willing to take the necessary steps to alleviate that issue.
Smart corporations are working to create a good candidate experience throughout the recruitment stages. Employers are striving to make candidates feel as if the process is transparent, and that it’s easy to communicate with the corporation.
In order to take advantage of the opportunities provided by this trend, employers should start gathering information from new hires to see where there are potential gaps in the experience, and how they can solve these problems.
Mobile-Friendly Recruiting Sites and Tools
A huge portion of job-seekers are using mobile devices to search and apply for job openings, and it’s important companies are aware of this and make mobile-friendly tools for these job-seekers. It needs to not only be easy for potential candidates to search for job openings on their mobile device, but they also need to feel it’s a simple process to explore more about the job and contact the hiring manager, all from their smartphone or tablet.
When you don’t invest the resources into a mobile friendly recruiting site, potential candidates can frustrated or lose interest all together, and that’s not good for your employment brand. You’ll be seen as outdated or lacking the technology the best job seekers are looking for.
These are some of the biggest recruiting trends we’ve seen this year—what do you forecast 2015 will bring in terms of recruiting and the candidate experience? How do you think the jobs market as a whole will play into this?
